Latest Updates from Our Project:

Making the best use of delays!
about 4 years ago – Fri, Feb 28, 2020 at 09:58:21 AM

Hey everyone! This is just a quick update to let you know that the game has been done and completely ready to print for about a month, but as you probably already know, printing is delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. However, I've been informed that the plan is for printing to resume probably in early March. Overall, this will likely push back the date that we're able to get the game into your hands by about a month or so. BUT! The good news is, we're shipping an even better product - we've been playing the game a lot, iterating with some high level players to make sure the game holds up to competitive play - those five new characters from the stretch goal needed a little more love to become as good as they could be. But I think now they really have, and we're continuing to tweak and playtest until it's time to print!

We'll keep you posted, and we're sorry for the delay! Thanks again so much for supporting Dragon Bridge - I promise it'll be worth it!

98% Finished Manual attached! And other news!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Jan 29, 2020 at 12:03:26 PM

Hi everyone! 2020 is going to be a really exciting year for Keith Burgun Games. Next month, I'll be getting the demo print of Dragon Bridge, and as long as it's approved it goes out to printing and shipping to you! If you didn't notice, it's now possible to grab extra copies via the Kickstarter front page. Spread the word!

There's a lot in here, so before I go too deep I want to quickly invite you to the Keith Burgun Games Discord channel, available here. I hope to see you there! (We're doing a third Dragon Bridge TTS tournament and it's still possible to sign up!)

This year I've started a daily game dev stream as well, over at my Twitch channel (subscribe here!). Mostly over there I'm working on my new turn based tactical wargame, Gem Wizards Tactics, which takes place in the same universe as Dragon Bridge (Andromeda Robin is the main antagonist in the first campaign we're launching the game with). But I also occasionally do some Dragon Bridge, like yesterday where I played a series of 3 matches (and WON) against Artimillies Strongbow, who has been competing in the recent Dragon Bridge tournaments. Watch this video from the beginning(ish) to see Dragon Bridge in ACTION!

That's what's been really great about these tournaments, is that we are showing over and over again that this game holds up to serious competitive play. It's fun, dynamic, each match plays out a little differently, and I'm so proud of it.

You should know that I also have a Patreon campaign, which funds a podcast I run called the Clockwork Game Design Podcast. This podcast has had a lot of really cool game design guests on - Raph Koster, Dan Cook, Tim Fowers, Greg Street (the lead designer of League of Legends!), Rob Daviau and a ton more. And it's been going for 5 years now and it just keeps getting stronger and better. The Patreon also funds development of Gem Wizards Tactics and other games I may work on in the future - so go check it out and spread the word!

Finally, the Dragon Bridge Manual (almost done version) is available HERE. Please check it out and let me know if you have advice (I'm sure some of you will!).

Thanks so much and I'm really excited for this year!

Happy Holidays, and a small update!
over 4 years ago – Sat, Dec 21, 2019 at 01:15:19 AM

Hey everyone! So this will probably be the last update from me in 2019, as the next week or so include a lot of family/holiday activity wherein I'm not sure how much work I'll be able to get done in that time. But, the box is getting a redesign (that'll be cool, stay tuned), and the first week of January we'll send all the materials in to get the proof copy sent to us. From there, we're pretty much ready to print the games, and then hopefully within another month or two you all should have the game in your hands! So, hopefully, we're still running ahead of schedule, although who knows what else could come up (Not me, that's for sure). The game itself is rock solid, with each successive Tabletop Simulator version getting smaller and smaller patches.

Also, if you're interested in game design, you may want to check out this new video series I launched - it has two episodes so far, where I talk about the digital game I've also been working on, and some game design theory stuff. Let me know what you think!

Other than that - I'll see you in 2019!

New version, a tournament, and more!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Dec 06, 2019 at 07:25:08 PM

Hey everyone! I'll hit you with some bullet points in a moment, but first I wanted to say: I had planned on being at PAX Unplugged right now meeting cool people and hopefully showing some people a demo copy of Dragon Bridge. Unfortunately, I got an appendicitis just a few days ago and had to get surgery, so I ended up staying home. The good news is, I'm feeling a little better today and was able to get a ton of improvement done on Dragon Bridge.

  • As you might be aware, we've been doing a "Launch Tournament" over the past week or so, and we're now down to the FINAL TWO contestants - Captain, who is generally regarded as the world's best Dragon Bridge player, and BrickRoadDX, generally regarded as the SUPER COOL designer behind the numerous single player strategy games of BrainGoodGames (Militia, Minos Strategos, Solar Settlers and more!) Their final matches will probably take place tomorrow or soon after, we're not sure yet, but stay tuned to my twitch stream if you want to watch it live.
  • Over the course of this tournament, we have done so much playtesting and conversation about the game, making it stronger, more interesting, and paced better. Version 60, which I just uploaded to TTS and print and play on Itch, is the best version yet by far, and I'm really excited for people to try it out.
  • We've got all the components and materials figured out for printing, so we're ready to pull the trigger on all that whenever the gameplay is tuned up as much as it needs to be. I want to get the game to you guys when I promised (ideally, well before when I promised), but I also want to make sure the game is "cooked" enough to withstand years of play and is a GAME YOU CAN LIVE IN.

Recently I've been posting the latest patch notes at our Forum, which you can check out here.

Finally, on the off chance you may be interested, I have also been working on a turn based tactical game in the same universe as Dragon Bridge (which is called the Gem Wizards Universe).

This game is called Gem Wizards Tactics, and if this looks cool to you, consider becoming a Patron to my Patreon! I have a podcast, I write articles and provide tons of behind the scenes stuff only for my Patrons, so I hope you'll consider giving it a shot.

Thanks so much and stay tuned - hope to see you at the tournament!

The latest Dragon Bridge news!
over 4 years ago – Sun, Nov 24, 2019 at 11:57:21 PM

Hey everyone! I'll keep it quick but I wanted to just keep you informed of what's going on!

  • The tournament I mentioned in the previous post is UNDERWAY and I'm already in the loser's bracket! You can watch our best player, Captain, playing against me here on Twitch. These three matches were all pretty much exactly how I want the game to play out, so I'm really happy with how the game is going balance wise.
  • With that said, there are still a few balance tweaks that need to happen, particularly on the 5 new stretch goal characters. Probably Omar Evans is getting a little nerf - sorry, Omar fans! :D
  • The main thing I've been doing is a big back and forth with my printer folks. Below is the latest list of components you'll find in the deluxe version of Dragon Bridge (which you are ALL getting a copy of):

COMPONENTS:

  • Large box (around 5 x 9)
  • Two-piece cardboard mat for Dragon Nest
  • 3 cardboard BRIDGE tiles, double-sided
  • 6 plastic Gem tiles
  • Small tuck box for travel version
  • All cards in base + expansion (including card versions of bridge tiles + gems)
  • 2 quick reference cards
  • Manual
  • Lore book (includes comics, stories, illustrations and other materials)

Overall I'm pretty excited. I was thinking of doing ceramic tiles for the gem tiles, but they alone would DOUBLE the price of everything, which was a little intense. Also the box, the cards, and everything else, is gonna be whatever's the highest quality materials they make, so I'm excited for that. Hope to get it printing in the next couple weeks. I'll keep you posted!

Much love, thanks for making this game happen! :D
